The BC Municipal Climate Leadership Council (BCMCLC) is hosting the following workshop for locally elected officials on April 20, 2018 immediately after the AKBLG Convention at the Park Place Lodge in Fernie: High Impact Leadership on Climate Action.

Building on the success of its recent Climate Leadership Institute (www.bcmclc.ca/CLI), BCMCLC is tailoring sessions from CLI for Mayors, Councillors, and Area Directors attending the AKBLG Convention.

This peer learning session begins with an interactive presentation from Travis Streb, a communications coach with High Impact Lab. Travis will emphasize the importance of communicating with conviction, building support for climate action, the need for high impact leadership, and communicating effectively during emergencies.

Then Community Energy Specialists from the Regional Districts of Central Kootenay and East Kootenay will share effective, emerging solutions for energy and climate action. Learn how electric vehicles, BC's new Energy Step Code, green building rebates, solar gardens, and community outreach programs can be adapted to your community.

Small breakout group sessions will focus on leadership as well as the tools and next steps to help you lead your community into a green future.
